FAQ
How do you burn a sphere or pillar candle properly?
To burn a sphere or column candle properly, place it on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts. Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before lighting. Allow the candle to burn until the wax pool reaches the edges of the sphere to avoid tunneling. If the wick starts curling over, trim to keep it burning straight down. Best not to burn for more than 5 hours at a time.
How do I clean up beeswax spills?
Allow the wax to cool and harden. Gently scrape off the hardened wax with a plastic card or spatula. Use warm, soapy water or a wax remover designed for beeswax to clean any remaining residue. It typically hardens faster and is less fluid than the Paraffin and Soy alternatives, and is safer.
How do I trim the wick of a sphere candle?
Use a wick trimmer or scissors to trim the wick to about ¼ inch before lighting the candle, this helps ensure a straighter burn. It is best to cut wick when the flame is out and the pool of wax has dried. Trim wick before it starts curling over to a side, try to keep the wick upright by trimming regularly and/or pushing it to the center. Wick can be broken off after cooling but it is best to trim with scissors.
How do I keep the candles in optimal condition?
Store beeswax sphere candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat. Although beeswax has a higher melting point than other types or candles, such as the typical soy or paraffin, this prevents them from melting or warping. read the how to burn property FAQ to maintain the best shape while lit.
What are the benefits of these candles?
Beeswax candles burn longer and cleaner than the typical paraffin or soy candles. Burning beeswax releases negative ions that help purify the air. It is a natural, non-toxic substance, making it a healthier option for indoor air quality and tend to drip less compared to other types of candles. They create an illuminated exterior glow while burning and when the burn reaches the bottom, clip the wick and continue the glow with a tealight LED or candle.
Are these beeswax candles safe to use?
Yes. The wax pools into the center of the candle instead of over the sides. Beeswax is a natural, renewable resource that's produced by bees. Beeswax candles are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and don't release harmful chemicals into the air when burned. They can actually help purify the air, helping allergy and asthma symptoms. Since beeswax has a higher melting point and is denser, it tend to drip less compared to other types of candles, and doesn't create such a hot mess if accidently knocked over. Although far cleaner and safer than alternative candles, it is still recommended that you wait for the candle flame to be out and the wax to solidify before moving.
Do these candles burn long?
Beeswax often burns nearly twice as long as a same size Paraffin or Soy candle, which are the more common types of candles. A 100g candle made of beeswax will burn approximately 29 hours, while Soy burns for 18 hours and Paraffin for 15 hours, slightly faster in warmer environments.
Do the candles have a scent?
Yes. Beeswax has a natural honey smell, but when filtered and made into the white, more translucent version, some of that scent is lost. We also combine honey and vanilla fragrance to give you a wonderful aroma while you enjoy the long lasting luminosity.
Why might my beeswax candle have uneven burning?
Uneven burning can occur due to a variety of reasons, including a wick that is too long, drafts, unlevel base or improper placement. Try not to burn longer than 5 hours at a time. Ensure the candle is placed on a level surface and draft-free area. Allow it to burn long enough for the wax pool to reach the edges. Trim wick before it starts curling over to a side, try to keep the wick upright by trimming regularly and/or pushing it to the center if needed. Wick can be broken off after cooling but this often makes wick shorter than is best trim with scissors to about 1/4 in or 6mm tall.
